How To recognize Overfeeding Baby Symptoms

Love Baby Love Sleep

It is fully natural for newborn babies to nurse all the time. Even if they are full, infants will continuously ask to be fed every now and then. Because of this, some mothers find it very hard to tell when to continue or to stop nursing.

However, this is one trait that all new mothers should build as over feeding your babies can lead to quite a estimate of problems. So if you need a hand, here are some of the most coarse overfeeding baby symptoms that you should look out for in your infants.

One of the most determined overfeeding baby symptoms is unusually frequent bowel movement. Babies aged one month or older regularly remove their bowels twice a day. Those who do so more often than this might be overfed. Some overweight infants can have six or more stools a day. Apart from that, green, watery and explosive stools are also very coarse signs of overfeeding.

Naturally, an overfed baby tends to be overweight. Normally, babies can gain one pound of body weight per week. Gaining weight beyond this can be a potential sign of overfeeding. So be very mindful of this every time you go on that habit doctor's check-up. Or great yet, make it a habit to monitor your baby's weight at home as often as you maybe can.

The milk supply of the mom can also be used as a gauge to tell if the baby is overfed or not. Mothers with over abundant milk supply are most likely over feeding their babies. These mothers regularly have a very strong milk ejection reflex and can spurt out milk at larger amounts than normal. This can cause the baby to gag and swallow air, which can at last lead to stomach pains and colic. One good way to correlate overproduction of milk is by pumping out the milk with the use of a breast pump. However, the type of breast pump used and the time of the day that the milk is taken can largely influence the volume extracted.

Frequent crying and bad temper are also coarse overfeeding baby symptoms. An overfed baby is often grumpy and will steadily gain weight at a very short period of time. They are also very irritable and may have issue sleeping. Babies regularly love to be nursed by their mothers. Overfeeding however, can be very unpleasant for infants. So be very mindful of your baby's attitude when nursing. If you continue ignoring these overfeeding baby symptoms, your baby may spend lesser and lesser time nursing and will only do so when he or she becomes very hungry. Infants who reach this stage may become dangerously dehydrated and may drastically lose weight. As a result, mothers may be forced to wean their infants at a very early age.

One of the best ways to preclude overfeeding your baby is to simply sell out your milk supply. However, it is very important to do this very gradually. You can start out by nursing your baby with only one breast per feeding session.

Feeding the baby with only one breast per feeding session gives him or her more hind milk. Hind milk is the last milk that comes out of the mother's breast, which has very high amounts of fats and calories. Decreasing the estimate of milk per feeding session also prevents stomach distension and colic. This way, the milk goes through the baby's digestive theory at a quarterly speed and most of the nutrients are absorbed into the body.

If the above mentioned formula does not work, you can cut back on the feeding amounts even more. No matter how often your baby asks to be fed, you should feed your baby only once every three hours. But first, make sure that your baby has been diagnosed by a certified medical expert as an overweight and overfed baby before adapting this type of routine.
